I thought I'd share a little known feature in Windows 7 called "Restore Previous Versions". Most users haven't heard of this tool and it can be a lifesaver.

Let's say you've accidentally deleted a file and it's gone from your recycling bin as well. Or perhaps you deleted information from a file that you need to get back. That's where the "Restore Previous Versions" tool kicks in.

So how do you access this tool?

Start by clicking on the "COMPUTER" icon on your desktop or by clicking the START button and then finding COMPUTER on the right hand side of the menu. Then double click on drive that contained the targeted file. (Usually the "C" drive)

Once there, find the folder that contains the file you are looking to restore (i.e., My Documents)

Right click on that folder and select "RESTORE PREVIOUS VERSIONS" from the menu that appears.

You'll then see a list of all the saved versions of that folder and everything in it along with a date of when it was backed up. It's usually...
